Inauguration of Rochas Foundation Eco-Club

Building climate resilience starts in the classroom. As part of the Nigerian Earth Warriors initiative, CEEECF successfully inaugurated a new Eco-Club at the Rochas Foundation Secondary School in Yola — a milestone in our commitment to embedding environmental stewardship into the fabric of youth education in Adamawa State.

The inauguration featured an interactive education session where students engaged with environmental strategy board games, designed to simplify complex climate concepts and make the principles of sustainability accessible and engaging. Students learned about climate change, biodiversity, conservation, and practical everyday actions they can take to protect their environment.

The event culminated in the official presentation of the Eco-Club banner and the formal induction of student members. Each student received an Eco-Club Record Book — a tool for tracking their personal environmental actions and commitments throughout the school year. The ceremony was both symbolic and practical: it created a structured framework within which young people can hold themselves and each other accountable.

In the final activity of the inauguration, students and CEEECF staff moved to the school's campus for a tree-planting exercise. Each student was guided through the proper techniques for planting a sapling, attaching a protective tree guard, and caring for the sapling over time. This physical act of planting carried a message beyond horticulture — it represented investment in the future, and stewardship of what that future will inherit.

The Nigerian Earth Warriors program continues to grow. With each Eco-Club we establish, a new community of young advocates is born.
